Celebrating the Next Generation of Storytellers

The Sundar Prize Film Festival is proud to present the BC Student Film Showcase — an exclusive screening block dedicated to amplifying the voices of young filmmakers across British Columbia. This is a unique platform where creativity meets impact, giving students the opportunity to share their vision with a global audience.

Who Can Apply

This showcase is open to all students who are 16+:

  • High school (Grade 11 or 12)
  • College
  • University
  • Any post-secondary program

No film studies background required — all disciplines are welcome. Whether you are studying arts, sciences, trades, or technology, if you have a story to tell, this is your stage.

Awards and Prizes

The BC Student Film Showcase offers multiple cash prizes to recognize outstanding talent:

  • $1,000 – First Place
  • $750 – Second Place
  • $500 – Third Place

In addition, winners will receive:

  • Official Winner’s Laurel (with Laurels also awarded to finalists and official selections)
  • Digital Certificate of Achievement
  • Letter of Congratulations
  • An eco-friendly trophy, crafted in BC and mailed or presented in person
  • VIP All-Access Passes to the Sundar Prize Film Festival

How to Apply

Submit your film through FilmFreeway. Entry fees are kept affordable, ranging from $10 to $25 USD. Gold Members automatically receive a 10% discount.

The Jury

A jury composed of fellow students will select the top films, ensuring that the Showcase remains a celebration of peer recognition and fresh perspectives.

Our Festival's Mission

At the Sundar Prize, we believe in the transformative power of storytelling.

Sundar means “beautiful” in Sanskrit, and our festival honours films that shine a light on the beauty of humanity while raising awareness about important social issues.

Films of any theme are welcome, but we especially encourage submissions that highlight:
