Youth Jury Program

Empowering the Next Generation of Changemakers Through Film.

The Sundar Prize Film Festival is proud to launch its Youth Jury Program, a dynamic initiative that puts the power of decision-making directly into the hands of young people. This program is designed to engage youth 24 and under in the art of film criticism, storytelling, and cultural dialogue — giving them the tools to shape the future of cinema.

How It Works

Youth jurors will learn how to watch, review, and rate films, while gaining hands-on experience in the world of film festivals. Guided by festival mentors, they will evaluate a selection of powerful stories and ultimately decide the winner of the prestigious Best Youth Film Award.

How to Apply as a Youth Juror

Interested in joining the Youth Jury? Here’s how:

  1. Send your cover letter, resume, and two professional references to: volunteer@sundarprize.com
  2. A consent form, signed by a legal guardian, will be required to participate (download below).

Why Join the Youth Jury

By becoming a juror, youth will:

  • Learn how to critically analyze and review films.
  • Gain leadership skills and confidence by shaping the outcome of a major festival award.
  • Connect with other passionate youth and filmmakers.
  • Be part of an inclusive community that celebrates stories of impact and social change.

Our Mission

At the Sundar Prize, we celebrate films that inspire action, empathy, and understanding. Sundar means “beautiful” in Sanskrit, and we believe there is beauty in stories that uplift the human spirit and address critical social issues.

While films of any theme are welcome, we encourage projects that highlight:

  • Human Rights
  • Health and Wellness
  • Immigrants and Refugees
  • Social Justice Issues
  • Indigenous Peoples
  • People of Colour
  • Gender Equity
  • 2SLGBTQ+ Community
  • Vulnerable and Marginalized Peoples
  • Environment and Climate Change
  • Educational Themes

Be Part of Something Beautiful

The Youth Jury Program is more than just an award — it’s an opportunity to empower young people to discover their voice, shape the cultural landscape, and celebrate the power of storytelling.

Apply today — whether as a filmmaker or juror — and help us build a more just, inclusive, and inspired world through film.
