Sundar Prize Film Festival Film Equipment Loan Program
Program Overview
The Sundar Prize Film Festival, an initiative of Sher Pride, is proud to offer a Film Equipment Loan Program to support film students, emerging filmmakers, and creators from underserved and marginalized communities.
This initiative removes financial barriers by providing access to professional-grade equipment, promoting equity in the film industry and amplifying underrepresented voices in storytelling.
Program Highlights
- Free to Borrow – No rental fees
- Low-Barrier Access – Open to students and filmmakers with limited financial resources
- Refundable Deposit – Required to ensure equipment care
- Equity-Focused – Priority given to BIPOC, 2SLGBTQ+, and low-income filmmakers
Deposit
- $50.00 per day
- Refundable upon return of equipment in its original working condition
- All equipment will be inspected before and after the loan
Insurance Requirements
If You Have Existing Insurance:
- Submit a valid Certificate of Insurance
- Must list:

as an Additional Insured
If You Do Not Have Insurance:
- Purchase short-term coverage through GearPolicy
- Sher Pride is an approved vendor
- Choose:
- Replacement Value: $10,000
- Optional Commercial General Liability: Min. $1 million if you meet the criteria (i.e. under 10,000 budget and 5 day film shoot)
- Estimated cost: $100–$200 for 2-week coverage

Loan Agreement Terms
All borrowers must sign a loan agreement stating:
- Insurance is mandatory
- If equipment is lost or damaged:
- Deposit is forfeited
